Fire doors

Fire doors hold back fire and limit heat transfer between the fire compartments of a building. They come with EI30, EI60 and EI90 ratings, in metal or timber, with additional hardware for escape routes. We install them in basements, boiler rooms, stairwells and commercial buildings.

How to choose fire doors

With fire doors, the choice is not a matter of taste. The required rating is set by the design documentation; you then choose the version, hardware and size.

  1. 1

    Required EI rating

The rating tells you how many minutes the door holds back fire and heat. EI30, EI60 and EI90 are available. You do not choose the rating yourself — it is set by the fire safety design documentation.

  2. 2

    Version

Choose metal doors for basements, boiler rooms and garages. Choose timber where appearance matters. Both versions achieve the same EI class.

  3. 3

    Hardware

A door closer shuts the door automatically after every use. A panic bar lets people open the door in the direction of escape without a key. The type of hardware is set by the fire safety plan.

  4. 4

    Size and opening direction

The certificate covers a tested range of sizes, so the door cannot be adjusted freely. On an escape route, the door opens in the direction of escape.
